Dr. Kaplan is a 2002 graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed a Family Medicine Residency here locally at the Conroe Family Medicine Program, serving as Chief Resident in his final year
Prior to medical school, Dr. Kaplan served as Research Assistant at the Center for Pediatric Research, where he also published his findings. After a seven-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller, and following a honorable discharge, Dr. Kaplan graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Kaplan is actively involved in the community as the team physician for a local high school football team. Additionally, he continues to volunteer internationally, most recently working as a member of a tsunami relief organization in Banda Ache, Indonesia in January 2005.
As an attending physician, Dr. Kaplan is involved with educating resident physicians in training. “I consider medical training a lifelong endeavor and have found teaching other physicians to be a valuable tool. Lake Area Urgent Care is privileged to have these resident physicians on site,” says Dr. Kaplan.
Dr. Kaplan and his wife have three sons and a daughter. His hobbies include running, softball, deep sea fishing and the Chicago Cubs!
